Karena jarang sekali yang ngepost about traveling in the US, here it is I am posting about one of amazing places that you can visit in the US and It’s not all about the city scene. 🙂
On January 3rd-7th 2016, my friends and I were having a road trip around Utah and Arizona, Unite States. We visited Zion National Park, Lower Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Red Rock Mountains, Tuzigoot National Monument, The Holy Cross, and Tlaquepaque. Today, I want to share to you guys the beauty of Lower Antelope Canyon.
Lower Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land east of Page, Arizona or around 8,5 hours driving from Los Angeles. Lower Antelope Canyon is a MUST place to visit in the US. Also there are also some other places that you can visit besides Lower Antelope Canyon, that is Horseshoe Bend (I will post about it later)
To go to Lower Antelope canyon itself, we have to make a reservation for the tour (of course you have to go to Lower Antelope Canyon by yourself before you take the actual tour and go down to the canyon). You cannot explore the canyon by yourself because it is kind of dangerous to explore it by yourself, indeed you need an expert that knows the canyon well. Since you have to take the tour, you have to book the tour in advance and I believe there is 2 different kind of tour on the spot and they tour itself, they have a specific timing. For the tour, you have to pay around $28/person (trust me this is a well spent $28).
The Lower Antelope Canyon tour is about 1,5 hour long and you have to follow the trail which around 1.5 mile long. From the normal ground, where you park your car at, you will see nothing because all of these canyons they are under the ground. You have to hike down to see these beautiful rocks and hike up to get out of here (also you got to hike up and down on the trail).
There is a few things that you guys have to keep in mind when you are going to visit Lower Antelope Canyon, you guys need a hiking shoes (well, if you do not have one, at least wear a comfortable shoes to hike. Do not forget to bring some water because the trail that you will follow is pretty long and pretty tiring since you have to go up and down. If you go the during the summer, do not forget to bring some sunscreen because Arizona can be REALLY HOT during the summer, and during the winter, do not over dress otherwise you will sweat like a pig if you over dress (yes this was me, i over dressed when i went there because i thought it would be could down there but actually it was not).
Also keep in mind, during the MONSOON Season (July, Aug, Sept and part of Oct.) and they maybe closed without any notice. Please keep an eye on the weather and PLEASE confirm the day before to see if they are open or not. This place can flood like crazy (YES LIKE CRAZY! If you do not believe in me, google “flooding in Lower Antelope Canyon).
Cheers! I hope this information will be useful for everyone that is going to go to the United States but do not know where to go, this place it is to go to.
